My Story
Crafting Emotions
Hello, my name is Mariia, and I am the sole creator behind this small creative venture. Originally from a small town in Siberia, Russia, my journey to jewellery was anything but planned.
Art has always been my way of expressing emotions I struggle to put into words. I have alexithymia, which makes it difficult to recognise and verbalise feelings. During my psychology studies, I researched this topic extensively, but it was through creating—painting, sculpting, and crafting—that I truly found a way to express myself.
Jewellery wasn’t my original goal. When I applied to RMIT University, I thought I’d be studying both ceramics and jewellery. The day before the semester started, I learned I had to choose between them. I picked jewellery—not out of passion, but curiosity. The irony? My teachers had already assumed I would.
That curiosity led me here. After years of experimenting—studying psychology, painting for eight years, exploring sculpture, photography, wood carving, and industrial design—I finally found a medium that allows me to translate emotions into physical form. Every piece I create is shaped by experience, silence, and the hope of connection.
