Into the woods collection focuses on the feeling of being in the enchanted forest. Growing up in the small Siberian town I was surrounded by forest and spent lots of my time walking around and exploring the woods. Siberian nature adjusted to survive a very harsh weather conditions and especially cold winters when the temperature can drop to -50 C or even lower. Almost for 9 months the nature is in hybernation waiting for the spring to come. In this collection I wanted to express the quiet feeling of frozen nature waiting for the first warms.
Bark of the trees in Siberia are very thick and raw to touch. Because of the weather conditions tree growing very thick layers of bark to survive extreme colds and I wanted to repeat this texture. While working on this project my mom, who still in Russia, collected lots of photos of tree bark in our small town to help me with my research. There are just two pieces in this technique it is bracelet and earrings. These earrings are a small piece of Siberia which you can always wear as a beautiful reminder of a raw nature.
